Increase Your Survival Against Sexual Assault

In this article, we’ll discuss a very serious topic that you may think only females should prepare for - but really, all people should take steps to protect themselves against sexual predators, especially in a survival or civilization collapse scenario.

Even in locally chaotic crisis situations, sexual assaults do occur. Remember hurricane Katrina and the awful atrocities that occurred after a local hurricane severely damaged a portion of the Gulf Coast - criminals took the survival crisis as an opportunity to attack others that they deemed prey.

Imagine if a larger swathe of America was affected by an emergency: do you not think that these same criminal behaviors might be seen again? No matter how well the government tries to protect us, there is no way anyone can fully ensure your safety when society is ripped apart by a SHTF crisis.

Here are some tips to start preparing your own survival against sexual predators:

Recognize strength differences among genders. If you find yourself in a sexual assault situation, you’ve got to recognize that most women are not as strong as most men - it’s a matter of chemical and physical body differences. If you’ve ever sparred co-ed martial arts or mma, you know what I’m talking about. A woman being attacked by a man must get away from the attacker or find a way to out-smart or out-tool the aggressor. A woman against a male attacker simply won’t be able to physically fight at the same level (unless you’ve spent years building your fighting skills and strength, maybe).

Don’t be a target, and don’t look like a target. Walk with purpose, know your destination before you leave, and keep your focus on the environment around you, not the mobile device or whatever is distracting to your safety. Consider traveling in a group - there is safety in numbers, especially at night or in a survival situation.

Take a rape prevention course from your local police department. Take a concealed carry weapons class and learn how to safely carry a weapon. Taking a course on sexual assault and rape prevention that is in person and hands-on is one of the best steps you can take to prepare to survive.

Say no and mean it. Don’t back down to intimidation. Simply showing the will to fight your attacker can increase your chances of survival. Look the person in the eyes and yell at the person.

Keep gel pepper spray or another weapon close by, and learn how to use it. Practice often. A weapon that you are comfortable using is a great asset in times of peace, but especially in a survival crisis. You must practice with a weapon on a semi-regular basis to build the skills necessary to safely use the tool. Do not skip practice and seek help from others now who can teach you.

Know how to use your body as a weapon. Learn pressure points and dirty fighting techniques. Learn a martial art, learn a basic fighting stance, learn how to block, and learn how to fight dirty. The “bad guys” will always be fighting dirty, and your survival depends on your ability to disarm your attacker enough to get away. Dirty fighting could be eye gouging, hair pulling, or attacking sensitive areas such as pressure points, the face, or genitals.

Recognize tools in your own environment that can be used as a weapon if needed - keys, items you can throw, pens/pencils, kitchen knives, etc. Many things in a normal home or urban environment can be used to protect yourself from a predator. Tools give you distance and added capability to disarm an attacker. Think about the normal supplies you have access to and how you might utilize them - this will get your mind thinking in the right direction.

While sexual attack is not necessarily a positive topic to discuss, survival against sexual predators is an essential part of survival prepping. There will unfortunately always be predators looking to take advantage of a situation or people, so you must plan now while you have the teachers to learn defensive skills from and the ability to acquire adequate protection tools.

This is the gel pepper spray that I carry myself by SABRE. I like the gel instead of fog pepper spray because the gel type stays on the target, instead of making a big cloud of mace that you could mistarget easily. This gel pepper spray also has red/UV dye so the attacker is clearly marked for authorities. This small, concealable size has 35 bursts of mace. Check this great product out on Amazon where it’s highly rated as a positive security tool:
